Since Estonia is our home, we can’t really describe it as a tourist destination we’ve been to. The reason we live here is that we love this country. The nature, the people and their sarcasm; our family and friends. We try to travel as often as possible, but Estonia itself has so many cool places to discover where we even haven’t been yet. And if you’re planning a trip to Estonia, then I recommend you to skip Tallinn, and go explore Tartu, Pärnu, Narva, Haapsalu and other smaller and less touristy cities. All of them are super cute and small (by small I mean that their population is around 10 000-100 000 people).

If you still stay in Tallinn, then you can obviously go and see the medieval old town and its nightlife, but if you get a chance, then visit the cool parts in Tallinn such as Kalamaja, with Telliskivi Loomelinnak – it used to be a sketchy area during the wild 1990s, but now it has become the most desired living space in Tallinn and also a place for hipster gatherings. So many cute shops and cafes. It’s a place where the old and new meet.

Another place I’d recommend in Tallinn is Pirita and its seashore. A perfect place to jog at and also to enjoy sunsets. Pirita also has one of the nicest running tracks in the forest close by, and we often go for slow walks or jogs there.

Foggy day in Tallinn, Pirita (we barely have fog, and never smog, since Estonia is one of the cleanest air countries in the world :))

On your way to Pirita, you can stop by from Kadriorg, where is the president’s palace and also Katherine’s (the 1st) castle. All of this is only 10-15 minute drive from the city via public transportation. Bus number 5 takes you to Pirita (and its forests) and tram number 3 takes you to Kadriorg.
